Messi: Compare me to Maradona when I win the World Cup.

I don.t want to compare myself with Maradona unless I win the World Cup.- Messi
Lionel Messi clearly states that he cannot be considered as the world's best player of all time until he has won the most prestigious award in football The FIFA World Cup. Most of the time Messi is compared with Diego Maradona and Messi has also passed Maradona's achievements in club level, but at the point of the World Cup when judging the Barcelona striker alongside the former Napoli great, Argentine Coach at South Africa 2010.

"The comparison with Maradona is a very prestigious compliment, but not one that I can accept yet. He did so much for the national team and I don't think any player can be great until they have won the World Cup. I hope that I can do that and I hope I can do that this June but until then I don't speak me as the best."Messi told to the reporters.

Lionel Messi does not feel that he will have to win a World Cup if he is to be considered as the best player of all time.
The four-time Ballon d'Or winner is already being considered as the one of the best footballers of all time but, the Argentine has yet to lift football's most prestigious prize.
There are those that believe that Messi must win a World Cup to cement his legendary status but the Barcelona forward does not think it that way.
"I think there are many players considered the best ever without a World Cup," the 26-year-old told Ole .
"But obviously winning a World Cup is a positive and it would be very special.
"I hope we are in Rio [the venue for the final of Brazil 2014] enjoying the day there. Hopefully, we can reach that final."

Ronaldo breaks Messi’s Champions League goals record for a season

Ronaldo the man in form  this season.
Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Lionel Messi's record of the highest goals scored in a single Champions league season after he scored 2 goals in their victory against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Ronaldo has now scored 2 goals more than Messi with Messi scoring 14 times in 11 games during the 2011-12 season. Wtihout  any doubt the 2013 Fifa Ballon d'Or winner has bettered Lionel Messi by scoring 16 goals in just 10 appearances.

No player has ever scored at such an impressive rate in club competition of Europe. Lionel Messi's average during his record breaking season was a goal in almost 70,71 minutes. while the Spanish striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was even more stylish during Manchester united's advancement till quarter-finals in 2003.

Levante vs Barcelona Preview. No Neymar but Messi to fire all cylinders for Barcelona.

Barcelona will be without forward Neymar when Gerardo Martino's side continue their pursuit of a second successive Liga title at Levante.

The Brazil international suffered sprained ankle tendons in a 2-0 Copa del Rey victory at Getafe on Thursday night and will be sidelined for three to four weeks.

Neymar's absence is a blow for the Spanish champions, but with Lionel Messi firing on all cylinders again Barca will be expected to complete a sixth consecutive win over Levante on Sunday.

The Argentina captain scored twice at Getafe, having also netted a double in the first leg, as Martino's team cruised to a 6-0 aggregate win to set up a quarter-final clash with their opponents on Sunday.

Ronaldo beats Messi and Ribery for the Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed the Fifa Ballon d'Or, beating off competition fromBarcelona's Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery to secure the award for a second time.

Although the 28-year-old Portuguese failed to claim a major trophy at club level, he has been crowned the world's outstanding footballer over the course of the last 12 months.

Ronaldo received 27.99 per cent of the votes from the national team captains, coaches and selected media representatives, with Messi in second on 24.72% and Ribery with 23.36%. 

The percentages point to the closest race for the prize since France Football's Ballon d'Or was merged with the Fifa World Player of the Year in 2010.

Messi had won each of the last four editions of the award, including all three since it was endorsed by Fifa, while Ribery played a pivotal part in a historic treble-winning season for the Bavarians, but Ronaldo's tally of 69 goals in 59 games for club and country in 2013 proved decisive.

Messi: I am pleased that Ronaldo will be at the World Cup.

Messi states that he is happy about his rival Cristiano Ronaldo playing the 2014 World Cup.
Barcelona and Argentina striker Lionel Messi says that he is happy to see his rival Ronaldo sealing Portugal's qualification for the World Cup 2014. Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in the second leg against Sweden in Tuesday's World Cup play-off to qualify for Brazil and Messi states that he is happy for hiv rival's side qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

"I was very happy for him when he scored those goals, It's just great wen the best teams compete with each other in Brazil, and Ronaldo has a great scoring rate this season.I don't know if this is his best moment, but he is always there scoring goals in all the games and playing his beautiful football in both his club and country, He has been in good form for many years, Whether he is at the best, or a bit below that, there is almost no difference."Messi told to the reporters.
